Free favicon generator from an image

Make a favicon.ico, PNG browser icons, an Apple touch icon and a web app manifest from one image. Download a complete ZIP and the HTML tags for your site.

What is in the package?

The ZIP contains a multi-size favicon.ico with sixteen, thirty-two and forty-eight pixel PNG images, small PNG icons, an Apple touch icon, two manifest icons, a web manifest and installation tags. Upload the extracted files to your website root and paste the tags into your HTML head. Review manifest names before using the package for an installable app.

Choose artwork that works small

Use a clear symbol with a square composition and a source at least forty-eight pixels wide and high. The tool crops the center square and scales it down, so text and fine feather details may disappear. Larger source files give the mobile icons more detail. Choose a solid color behind the Apple and app icons; transparent browser icons remain transparent.

Check it on your own site

After uploading, open the site in browser tabs and on a phone. Verify that the root files and HTML paths match. Google can use a site's favicon in its search results when its guidelines are met, but appearance is not guaranteed. This generator does not vectorize raster images or create an SVG favicon from pixels.

Favicon files and sizes in your ZIP

Install the favicon and troubleshoot an old icon

  1. Extract the ZIP and upload its image files and manifest to your website root.
  2. Copy the link tags from install.html.txt into the HTML head. If files are in a subfolder, update the link tags and manifest icon paths to match.
  3. Open each referenced file URL to check it is available, then reload the website and check a new browser tab.

If the previous favicon remains, check the published HTML for an older icon declaration and check your browser cache. The generator cannot clear a browser or search engine cache. Google's favicon guidance recommends a square image larger than 48 × 48 pixels; the 192-pixel PNG in this package can be referenced as a site icon. Search appearance is not guaranteed. Read Google's current favicon requirements.

Common questions

Are the image files uploaded?

No. The PNG, JPEG or WebP file stays in your browser while the package is created.

Will my entire logo remain visible?

The source is cropped to a centered square. Use a square artwork or crop it first if the edges are important.

Does the package guarantee a Google search favicon?

No. You must install it on your website and meet the search engine requirements; appearance is decided by the search engine.
